Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top popular actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters that are equally at risk. Born to a well-known playwright father, but was raised by a single mom, who earned her living by working as a nurse. She became interested in theatre while working with her father during the summer, eventually studying acting, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Starting her acting career on the Broadway following her graduation, she appeared in film within two years and on television within a year. Her appearances have been in a variety of film, TV as well as stage productions ever since. In her professional career, she has won several awards, among them two Golden Globe Awards. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards, and three Oscar Award nominations. In spite of all the recognitions and awards, theatre is still her passion and she'll continue to perform on stage and screen.
