Thunberg uses graphic metaphors to express her concern and is often blunt with business and political leaders about their failure to take concerted action. Thunberg took a decisive stand in August of 2018. She calmly sat outside the Swedish Parliament, abstained from classes and sat on a banner which read "School Strike For Climate". The reason she felt it was important in order to get interest from politicians to adopt measures to combat global warming. Swedish media covered Thunbergs protest and spread the story. The following weeks the students from all over participated in Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture protests. Students took Friday off to protest global warming. Climate campaigners around the globe came together in 2019 to coordinate the Global Strike for Climate. The event was an enormous success; over 1.6 million people across more than 125 nations took part.
