Richard B. Cheney has been a public servant over a number of years, and is also an entrepreneur who has made a name for himself. The current position he holds is Vice President of the United States. Cheney was a familiar name on the Washington political scene. George W. Bush would be his fourth U.S. President. Bush chose Cheney as his vice presidential candidate in July 2000 citing his expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president, served as a Member of Congress and served as the secretary of defense. Republicans and Democrats alike respect Cheney for his sincerity. Cheney said that his job as a member of the Bush administration is to be a transparent but disinterested advisor. Cheney expressed his excitement at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nod. He stated that he is looking forward working with a leader who can be a team player with individuals of differing political opinions and who share common objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney is the father of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941, at Lincoln Nebraska. Cheney was moved from Casper, Wyoming with his family in the year 13 when he turned thirteen. He was raised by his father who was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture was the director of the conservation district in Casper.
